Wizards v Swanton Morley

2 min read

We welcomed Swanton Morley to Hockering on a fresh autumn morning.

It was great to welcome Ian to the other side of the pitch today, we warmed up to start us on the front feet and to be fair we did start better today.

We lost (and missed) DW prior to KO but still had 9 out of 10 in the squad.

The first half was a tight affair with both teams cancelling each other out, RB put in another fine performance in goal drawing positive comments from the away team coaches. IB, OlB & TE all did well in defence with AJ anchoring the middle and SL continuing up front. Wide players of NC, VF & CB working the wings.

We had one fantastic move in the first half where we moved the ball quickly and accurately from defence, down the right, across the goal with their defender intercepting what would have been a goal of the season co tender!

Second half we seemed to lose a little concentration, the visitors went ahead with a fluke goal going where RB just couldn’t reach! After that we had chances but in all fairness we didn’t really look like scoring today.

A lapse of concentration at the back allowed them a second.

MotM was pretty easy today. Lots of players did OK but one stood out for sheer determination and desire, refinding his mojo after a couple of quiet weeks recently – Well done AJ.

Back to the training ground Monday for more work in short passing. One twos and triangles!
