Wizards v Swaffham

2 min read

We returned to league action today welcoming Swaffham to Hockering. The match started with an impeccably respected 2 minutes silence.

With a squad of 10 today we looked to keep players refreshed with several substitutions.

An end to end match between two very evenly matched teams saw us fall behind early on but our heads did not drop. IB looked very assured at the back, bringing the ball out of defence. Our skipper for the day AJ was solid in the middle, DW and CB caused trouble out wide, SL again impressed up front grabbing the equalizer from close in. NC came into the match looking to use his speed, TE joined the fray and slotted in beside IB well. VF played well in defence, Midfield and up front. OB played in defence and also had a forage up front which saw him chase everything. RB made lots of good saves and his kicking was spot on.

3-1 down the lads really started to get stuck in, TE netted his 1st goal for the Wizards before an own goal pulled us level we 5 mins left.

Although I thought a draw was a fair result the lads thought different and finished really strongly, and NC stepped up to net the winner in the last few seconds.

We spoke after the game about the never say die mentality and the feeling of never giving up! Ian and I were really impressed today.

MotM went to NC who worked hard throughout, found some great passes and of course was the last minute hero!
