Lads V Bridgham

2 min read

Last week we faced 2nd placed Bridgham in the league know anything but a win meant another season in Division 2.

We started well and created lots of chances on what was a very wet and muddy pitch, On 34 minutes Bridgham made the most of their opportunity and scored taking the lead against the run of play. The gaffer wasn’t too disheartened and got ready to lift the lads at half-time, and then right on the stroke of half time Marcus Clarke fired a rocket past the visiting keeper and leveled the score. HT 1-1

The second half started with us attacking the wetter end of the pitch and we quickly used this to our advantage with Josh Haycox beating the keeper on 48 minutes to put us ahead. Shortly afterwards Tom Stones replaced Declan Moore, Lewis Jarret replaced Peter Turnbull and Louis Stimpson made way for a quick tactical chat before returning to the field in place of Marcus Clark.

The change worked immediately with Josh Haycox adding his 2nd and 3rd goals within 2 minutes of the change.

A few quick rotations and Peter Turnbull also benefitted from the change and grabbed his first of the season. Bridgham grabbed a consolation late on but the points were won some 15 minutes earlier with the four goals in a 15-minute spell. FT 5-2

We go into our Final two league game knowing 6 points assures us of promotion. Still in our Hands!
