Hingham v Wizards Cup match

After 6 weeks without any football the Wizards returned to Cup action v Hingham who happened to be the last team we played in the league!
We switched to an away fixture to get a sociable KO time and to protect the Hockering pitch that we will be using for the next 2 Saturdays.

Vinnie & Ollie starred at the back and did well in front of Rowan who was largely untroubled although he did pull off 2 good saves – Isaac & Toby took over at the back and it was really good to see the boys keep a clean sheet and pass the ball out from the back. Isaac and Toby are forming a really good partnership at the back, taking turns to get forward and talking all the time – Great to see.
Aaron was central mid with Dex and Charlie each side of him with Sonny up front, a position he’s looking more and more comfortable in. Aaron pulled the strings in the middle and broke the deadlock in the second half with a well deserved goal. Dexter showed a great range of passing and crossing today and also had a few shots, making good decisions with the ball always. Vinnie kept us in it with a lung bursting run to get back and deny the opposition sn equalizer with a superb tackle. Sonny was upset not scoring in the 1st half but rolled his sleeves up and got our 2nd which killed the game off. The assist came from Ollie who played in the right then up front in the 2nd half whise cldver pass was pounced on by Sonny.
Towards the end Charlie and their keeper seemed to have their own personal battle!! 3 great shots from Charlie, all somehow saved!! But this eye for goal, some intelligent passing and all round good play earned him the first MotM award of 2023.

So in general a little rusty at first but by the 2nd half we seemed to have blown the cobwebs away and we progress to the next round of the cup!
