Wizards – July Round Up!

2 min read

A testing run of friendlies filled July with action for the Wizards.

After a month of tournaments, we returned to 7aside action by hosting Cringleford. With the sides locked together come half-time, the game looked to replicate the teamsā€™ last encounter this time on home turf, providing a strong test for one another. Two tidy finishes stamped our mark, the first of which was supplied by an impressive box-to-box effort from our stand-in keeper, picking up the assist. As each team adapts and grows over the summer, it was Cringleford who emerged victorious courtesy of several wonder goals few keepers could handle. The Wizards were persistent however with our two number 12s linking up to produce a well-awaited goal late on.

Onto the next week, we again hosted a formidable foe; a well-known red and white of Heigham but this time an unfamiliar side. Enduring a scorching Saturday morning, hard work was superb as we pushed recent passing practice and continued to see positive outcomes. Similar to the week before, as individual efforts pulled our opponents over the line, the scoreline didn’t reflect the positive performance. Another day, another outcome I say but lots of key take-aways regardless.

Bouncing back from a difficult game two weeks prior against a strong Costessey side, we rounded off the month with a trip to the Nest, facing Sprowston. The Wizards finished July on a high with an impressive team performance, showing off their passing and link-up with great finishes to match. Canā€™t forget a massive penalty save which denied our opposition an equaliser, pushing Hockering onto what was a well-deserved victory! A thoroughly positive morning and one to build upon over the summer!
