The Under 15s

At Training on Thursday we spoke about how a lack of preseason games had left us behind most of our opposition already and how we need as individuals and as a team to work hard for each other. The first 40 minutes we were outstanding, LJ in goal didn’t have a save to make and that was in part credit to DKand HL at centre back. JD moved forward into midfield and did an incredible job of harrassing and closing down the opposition midfield when ever they turned the ball over. JGR tracked back relentlessley after supporting TMR on the right of our attack. AB positionally had his best game for sometime and covered the opposition winger well. CC and OM played in a more advanced midfield role and both looked to pick out passes to the front 3 of TD, BM and TMR.

We didnt manage to trouble the keeper in the first half but the attacking intent was evident and if anything showed just how much we missed a run of games. At half time we made a couple of changes and gave opportunity to players to get a good run out in the side. Long Stratton started the second half much in the same way as we did and rattled the crossbar early on. It was long before Stratton scored with their first shot on target as we started to tire. The game ended 3-0 to Stratton, if not for a goal line clearance we would have got on the score sheet but all in all Stratton were worthy of the three points.

After the games the Stratton coaches were very complimentary of how we approached the game especially in the first half of the game. As we get more minutes into the legs better second half performances will come. I though the new formation suited our creative players better giving them more support from team mates and more room to impose themsleves on the game. Seeing our front three try to connect and play to each others strengths is very encouraging. MotM was JD for a fantastic game in Central Midfield.
