Last Saturday we faced Shrublands development in the Norfolk County FA Primary Cup.
Cup action once again allowed to us to give a run out to extra players with the 5 sub rule. Ed Leviseur started in goal with Lewis Jarrett and Thomas Stones in front of him. Reece Westwood and Jamie Dugdale started at centreback. The midfield was made up of Olly Watkins, Louis Stimpson and Louis Rutherford. The front three were much changed with Marcus Clark leading and supported by Liam Plunkett and Luke Williams. Substitues, Tshego-Fatso Lesayne, Ryan Stannard, Peter Turnbull and Jamie Emerson (GK). We started well and pushed the Shrublands midfield back onto their defense and instantly caused problems. Marcus Clark cause the visitors all type of problems jinking his way past three men before seeing his shot palmed away by the keeper. They couldnt keep him out long and a neat bit of inter play saw us take the lead on 19 minutes. The Visitors tried to get back into it and found a leveller after a good header from a corner.
Liam Plunkett restored the lead on 42 minutes following a corner. The second half saw us really start to dominate and push for a win. Liam Plunkett made way for Ryan “Stancelo” Stannard on 53. A little reshuffle pushed Westy forward and Stancelo slotted back into his left back role. On 58 Westy scored the first of two direct goals from corners on they day curling his effort over the keeper into the far corner. 3-1. Que a raft of changes, Turnbull for Dugdale, Lesayne for Clark and Emerson for Leviseur.
Another reshuffle and it was soon 4-1 as Tom Stones was brought down just inside the box, Stones converts the penalty (76). Louis Stimpson the scored the second of our direct corners this time from the opposite side (82) 5-1 and Luke Williams capped off a fine display by slotting home the 6th from the spot.
