Hempnall away

2 min read

After what has been a disastrous few weeks the lads finally got back to winning ways in the league. Goals from Brad Jackson, Brandon N’joya, Ben Cordle, and Brad Cannell were enough to see us over the line with a 4-3 away win against our cup-final opponents.

We started the far better team and our pressure soon told with from a corner with Brad Jackson heading in at the far post from a Louis Stimpson corner. Some sloppy pressing saw Hempnall get back into it with a speculative shot from range that nestled in the corner. We were soon back in front with Brandon N’Joya cruising past the Hempnall left-back after a fine pass from Stimpson and firing past the keeper. His first for the club. Again the home side got back into it with a fortuitous own goal, Tom Stones attempting to clear after and slicing it into his own net. a call from anyone on the pitch and he could have left it for goalkeeper Jamie Emerson.

HT 2-2

We started the second half having made a change Liam Plunkett replaced Michael Cook in the centre of the pitch. Again we started well and were soon 3-2 up with Ben Cordle beating the keeper for his first goal since returning to the club. Cordle had a second ruled out minutes later after the linesman flagged up Brandon N’Joya for offside after he smashed the ball into the net after it had crossed the goal line.

Typically that came back to bite us and Hempnall scored direct from a corner, but the boys kept on pushing and got the deserved winner 2 minutes from time with Brad Cannell scoring at the back post after some neat work from Captain Callum Cockram and Liam Plunket on the right.

Final Score Hempnall 3-4 Hockering
